I believe its essential for us to make disciples, Jesus was clear about that in Matthew 28, but not only that you can see a tread from Old Testament to New Testament of Multiplication! Let me take you back to the very Genesis of Time.
Genesis 1:28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
What I see in this verse is “To be fruitful is to multiply” in fact it is unfruitful to not multiply.” Then as you go on reading you see God spoke to Abraham and says “Indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashores; and your seed shall possess the gates of their enemies. Genesis 22:17
The DNA of multiplying is connected to changing the earth and ruling as Sons and Daughter of a King. These verse are also a prophetic picture of the gospel of the Kingdom advancing in the earth! Its the very knowledge of God covering the earth as the waters cover the sea!
Let me back up a little, also in Genesis 1:27 its says “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” This is also a prophetic picture connected to Multiplying because humanity is created to reproduce creating many images of God! In reality God foreknew and foresaw a duplication of himself, through the process multiplication. He wanted Spiritual kids to share in His Ruler=Ship.
When we look at nature that God created, nature itself contains a seed that has the DNA to multiply.
There are many more examples, but now Im gonna take you to the New Testament.
Matthew 4:18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow Me,Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
Notice He says I will make you fishers of men….
The Making of a fisher of men: What Jesus was doing was making disciples in His image. The word “Disciple” refers to a student or apprentice. A disciple in the time of Jesus would follow the rabbi wherever he went, learning from the rabbi’s teaching and being trained to do what He did. So the end results would be a person who could imitate Him, and carry on His ministry, and become like Him in the process! You would look like a new creation in Christ, His very image in the earth, reproducing and multiplying!! It’s gets more in-depth but I just wanted to scratch the surface.

In The Old Testament God walked With Adam. In The New Testament God Walks Through You! WE ARE NOW IN CHRIST!!
