A lot could be wrote about the Holy Spirit so I’ll try to keep it short. The first time I had an encounter with Him was in the county jail. When He came upon me and filled me, I spoke in tongues. And shortly after I had even more encounters. When I’d be in prayer or reading the word, my body would be filled with what seamed to be like electricity, I could feel it all over my body and I would even shake like I was going into a seizure! Now let me say this before you say I’m crazy. I have never experienced this before, I also have never been to any Pentecostal churches. So I didn’t get any of these encounters from them. It was God the Holy Spirit!! Speaking in tongues is also something I didn’t learn it was something the Holy Spirit gave me, as I said I have never been to any type of Pentecostal Church at this time, I was actually a skeptic when it came to speaking in tongues.
The first time the Holy Spirit is mentioned is in the book of Genesis 1:2. You can see His influence all throughout the Old Testament, but you can see more of Him in operation in the life and ministry of the Messiah. The Greek word for comforter or helper is (PARACLETE) meaning the “one called along beside” the believer as a friend. So He comes along side the believer to energize, strengthen and empower to destroy the works of the devil and advance the Government of Christ in the earth. Nothing can be done apart from Him! He is the presence and power of God. As Jesus was sent to reveal, exalt and glorify the Father, the Holy Spirit was sent to reveal, exalt and glorify the Son.
The Holy Spirit Is A Person
The Bible says He is a person. He has infinite intellect (1 Cor 2:11), He has a will (1 Cor 12:11) And He has emotions (Romans 15:30). Holy Spirit is referred to in many ways in the scriptures: The Spirit of God (Gen 1:2), The Spirit of the Lord God (Isa 61:1), The Spirit of your Father (Matt 10:20), The Spirit of Grace (Zech 12:10), The Spirit of truth (John 14:17), The Spirt of holiness (Rom 1:4), The Spirit of Life (Rom 8:2), The Spirit of Glory (1 Peter 4:14) The Spirit of prophecy (Rev 19:10). As you can see scriptures back this up, you can’t get away from the life of the Spirit all throughout the scriptures.
The Holy Spirit Acts Like A Person
The Bible teaches the Holy Spirit performs actions like a person would.
HE SPEAKS: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches” (Rev 2:7), “And while they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them” (Acts 13:2)
HE TEACHES: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you” (John 14:26)
HE WITNESSES: “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of me” (John 15:26) “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Rom 8:16)
HE GUIDES: “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Rom 8:14) “But When He, the Spirit of truth, comes He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13)
HE CONVICTS: “When He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:7-8)
HE COMMANDS: “And the Spirit said to Philip, Go up and join this chariot” (Acts 8:29)
HE PERFORMS MIRACLES: “And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away and the eunuch saw him no more” (Acts 8:39) All the miracles recorded are also a result of the Holy Spirit.
I could say so much more about Him!! lol
